North Philadelphia Health System will close 146-bed St. Joseph’s Hospital in Philadelphia on March 31. The system says it must consolidate operations.
NPHS has only two hospitals, including St. Joseph’s. Henceforth it will base its operations out of Girard Medical Center, a 168-bed long-term acute-care hospital in Philadelphia, after it closes St. Joseph’s. The closure is expected to result in the loss of the jobs of up to 675 employees.
