Hospital security vs. patient privacy

spy

This article looks at when patient privacy should trump hospital security.

It stems from the case of Sharp Grossmont Hospital, in La Mesa, Calif., east of San Diego.

The hospital installed cameras inside computer monitors attached to anesthesia machines used in three operating rooms at the hospital’s Women’s Health Center. The goal, according to hospital officials, was to catch a  drug thief. The result, court documents charge, was multiple violations of patients’ privacy.
