Jackson. Mich.-based Allegiance Health and  Detroit-based Henry Ford Health System have completed necessary paperwork for the latter to take over the former.

When it announced its acquisition plans plans last year. Henry Ford Health System says the agreement  stemmed from its desire to offer healthcare in more communities beyond southeast Michigan.

The new entity will invest $300 million in the Jackson community and surrounding areas over the next five years, for new facilities, information technology and other new programs and services.
