Five foundations are sponsoring a physician’s playbook for “high-needs” patients.
Entitled The Playbook: Better Care for People With Complex Needs, it is supposed to a clinical resource for handling complicated medical, behavioral and social needs and offers guidelines on such topics such as patient management, successful approaches to care, and advice on policy and payment reform.
The foundations also conducted a survey showing that patients with complex problems tend to lack adequate access to care and have a greater than average number of social and economic challenges. This, of course, would seem obvious.
