UMass Memorial Health Care will spend $700 million over the next decade to upgrade its patient records and information-technology systems. A big part of this is that the health system will buy clinical and billing software from Epic Systems Corp., America’s biggest electronic-health-record-system vendor.
UMass Memorial will use Epic’s software at its four hospitals  and at least 1,100 physicians will use the new systems.
