Calif. Blue Shield sues whistleblower

Share this:

In a move that’s unlikely to help its public relations, Blue Shield of California sued a former public policy director, Michael Johnson, accusing him of disclosing confidential company information.

Mr. Johnson worked at Blue Shield for 12 years and left in March. Then he started a public campaign against Blue Shield, denouncing the “nonprofit” for cheating the public and operating too much like its for-profit competitors, including gargantuan executive salaries.

The ┬áLos Angeles Times noted that “California Franchise Tax Board cited some of those same reasons last year in revoking the insurer’s longtime exemption to state income taxes.”
