In another sign of the stresses facing many small and/or rural hospitals across America, Colusa (Calif.) Regional Medical Center has closed because of its desperate finances.
The 48-bed hospital will cease all operations, including inpatient, outpatient and emergency medical services.
In late March, officials announced that Colusa Regional and its three rural health clinics would be closed. However, Roseville, Calif.-based Adventist Health, a 17-hospital system, agreed on April 20 to acquire the three clinics.
