Rush, GE to build NASA-like ‘command center’

spacestation

The International Space Station.

Rush University Medical Center, in Chicago, is working with GE Healthcare Partners to build a “command center” that will use predictive analytics and “big data” to manage and coordinate the patient flow into, within and leaving the hospital.

The Chicago hospital is working with GE Healthcare Partners, an advisory firm within GE Healthcare, to build a “command center” that will use predictive analytics and big data to manage how patients come in, move around and leave the hospital.

It would be the healthcare version of NASA’s Mission Control Center, which monitors and controls operations at the International Space Station.

GE Healthcare Partners is designing the center, to  be housed at Rush, on Chicago’s Near West Side, and scheduled to open in about a year.
