Knoxville, Tenn.-based TeamHealth Holdings wants to buy some more physician groups in 2016, mostly in the post-acute setting, after swallowing IPC late last year in a $1.6 billion deal, Modern Healthcare reports.
Knoxville, Tenn.-based TeamHealth bought IPC in November in a deal valued at $1.6 billion. IPC is a leading national physician-group practice focused on the delivery of hospital medicine.
But, said CEO Mike Snow, TeamHealth will concentrate on integrating IPC, which can help bring opportunities for bundled contracts with payers.
Modern Healthcare notes that IPC “is strong in post-acute facilities, while TeamHealth is a leader in providing emergency room physicians and hospitalists to hospitals.”
Mr. Snow said TeamHealth expects $25 million in back-office and other savings s from the IPC merger in 2016 and a total of $60 million over three years.
