Arlington-based Texas Health Resources is adding 27 First Choice Emergency Rooms to its healthcare network in North Texas, according to the (Fort Worth) Star-Telegram. It’s another example of the relentless expansion of such freestanding ERs as more and more care is delivered outside hospitals.
The deal involves Texas Health Resources in a joint venture with Lewisville, Texas-based Adeptus Health Care, which operates First Choice, one of America’s biggest networks of freestanding ERs.
The deal will extend Texas Health Resource’s network contracts with all major insurers to the freestanding ERs. This will let more consumers pay in-network rates for care. “The affiliation will also enable faster direct admissions to Texas Health Resources hospitals for patients in need of more acute care,” The Star Telegram reported.
